Suntour Durolux RC 2013 Review

I have this friend who keeps asking me what fork is better, what wheelset is better, what drivetrain is better. He thinks he needs to ride a better fork but in reality, he uses his bike a 120mm XC rig with mismatched parts, exclusively on the road. Quite a shame really when you keep telling yourself you need a pike or a lyrik but it'll only graze the gravel roads.

But that's  none of my business.

The Suntour Durolux doesn't get much attention, but the truth is quite simple really. It's a solid performer for the price. Its small bump absorption is good. It can neutralize chatter well. the fork is also light which is great for what it is intended to be doing and so far, it has been reliable.

But like any fork, it's not perfect. the compression adjustment is a joke. A change in performance is felt only when you set the fork to the highest or lowest position. The paint chips! Minne had  those chips on the arch and I'm no fan with suntour forks outer seals. Just put enduro seals suntour!

But...

The truth is, the durolux simply works. It won't win any best awards around. For the money you pay fork, this is as good as it gets and it's not bereft of some features either.

I am in love with the Qloc design. It simply works and it works well without problems so far. But i can understand why there's some worry on the axle design since there are small parts in it. I can understand how annoying it'll be if that get clogged with mud.

The fork is also light. which pretty much is the icing of the cake when you consider the amount of money you pay for it. It's not light like a pike or a Bos Deville but it's light no less.
